A lovely little nautical bell.
Each bell is 11mm long and 10 wide, available as a charm or on a chain. You can read the story behind the bell charm below.
As you may know so many of our charms have a special meaning and have been designed as a celebration of everything we love about living on an island. This little bell, finally back on the website, is no exception. I first came to Scilly in 1975 as a babe in arms and from that first visit my parents, like so many before and since, were hooked and we came back every year. At 16 years old I came here alone for a Summer season, working at Juliet's Garden. For the whole of the summer I admired this brass ship's bell in the shop 'Man of War', on my final day, before tearfully boarding the Scillonian, I went and spent the last of my wages on the bell. Many moons later, when we were finally settled here, Rob made the first of our ship's bells in honour of that bell. Each bell charm has a solid silver body and moving parts, It doesn't really make a sound as we wanted the bell to be sturdy enough to go on wrist chains. The original bell is still with us here in the workshop and that most definitely makes a sound!
