Binoculars - large version on a silver neckchain
A nod to the old school. These lovely solid silver binoculars are 19mm x 12mm. They hang on a belcher chain so they emulate a pair of real binoculars, in miniature, around your neck.
If you'd like them to be long enough to hold up to your face and eyes select 26 inch or longer. We also make a slightly smaller binocular charm if you want a pair for a wrist chain.....
This little jewellery shop wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for birdwatching. I first came to Scilly when I was one year old with my family and my Dad’s best friend Pete. Being new to the hobby they had heard that Scilly was the place to be for migratory birds. They all fell in love with Scilly and we returned every year, always in October. Early Scilly memories for me are rain coats, choppy boat trips and hot chocolate on chilly beaches. My Dad and Pete always had their binoculars around their necks as they’d be off looking for the latest arrival and it always felt a real honour to be lifted up and allowed to look through the bins at a bird that had flown in from the continent. Without their birdwatching hobby they wouldn’t have come to Scilly and I wouldn’t have caught the island obsession and made St Martin’s my home, although I never took up birdwatching I am incredibly grateful for what is has given us. Sadly Pete died a few months ago so Rob made us these binoculars in honour of him. Birdwatching technology has changed over the years so which bins to base the design on? Well, we have a pair of really cool vintage binoculars – 2nd world war 1941 pattern - that Daisy & Polly bought us so he’s used these for reference. They are in honour of Pete, a nod to the old school and a nod to Rob’s days of boating when there would always be a pair in the wheel house.
