The moth is based on a Scilly resident - the six-spot burnet. This moth holds a special place in my heart. Before I met Rob and moved to St Martin's I lived on St Agnes and used to regularly 'house sit' over on Gugh. Quite a thing to have an island all to oneself in your twenties! It didn't come without a long list of duties from the owner, Rhondda, along with watering the greenhouse, feeding the cats, battening down the hatches, feeding an injured seagull and friendly thrush, I was tasked with noting when the first violets appeared and when the first five-spot burnet arrived. I took these duties seriously and would diligently scour the island every day. When Rob said he was making a moth I asked if it could be one of these.
